The Implementation Plan for the Digital Transformation of the Pharmaceutical Industry (2025-2030) jointly issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and other departments has set clear goals and paths for the digital transformation of the pharmaceutical industry, and has also brought new opportunities and challenges to pharmaceutical equipment enterprises.

The plan clearly requires that by 2027, more than 100 high-performance products should be developed and promoted in the fields of intelligent pharmaceutical equipment, testing instruments, and pharmaceutical industry software. This will force pharmaceutical equipment companies to increase research and development investment and enhance their independent innovation capabilities. Taking bioreactors as an example, although domestic bioreactors can basically meet market demand, some key components such as weighing instruments, pH capacity electrodes, and other sensing components still rely on imports. Enterprises need to focus on these key technologies, break through the bottleneck problem, and achieve independent and controllable industrial chains. At the same time, attention should be paid to the development of control software and the improvement of full process solutions, transforming from a single equipment supplier to a comprehensive solution provider.

In terms of promoting digital transformation, the proposal of "creating more than 100 typical scenarios for the application of digital technology in the pharmaceutical industry" and "building more than 100 digital pharmaceutical equipment factories" in the plan means that pharmaceutical equipment companies should actively cooperate with pharmaceutical companies, deeply explore pain points in the pharmaceutical production process, and develop targeted digital solutions. If some pharmaceutical companies introduce fully automatic high-speed tablet presses, automatic light inspection machines and other equipment, promote the transformation of intelligent factories, reduce the number of production personnel by one-third, improve production efficiency by more than 10%, and save production costs of 3 million yuan per year. Pharmaceutical equipment companies should take this opportunity to establish a 3D physical control data fusion model of equipment through digital twin technology, achieving real-time mapping and monitoring of equipment operating status. Using AI algorithms to optimize process parameters, such as accurately determining the endpoint through deep learning techniques in wet granulation processes, to improve product quality stability. At the same time, with the help of sensors to collect operational data from devices, AI algorithms are used to predict the wear and failure of key components, achieving predictive maintenance and reducing unexpected downtime.

From a longer-term goal of 2030, the plan requires pharmaceutical industry enterprises to achieve full coverage of digital transformation, which requires pharmaceutical equipment enterprises to build a sound digital transformation ecosystem. On the one hand, it is necessary to strengthen cooperation with upstream and downstream enterprises, from raw material suppliers to pharmaceutical companies, to achieve data sharing and circulation, and optimize the resource allocation of the entire industry chain. For example, through the industrial Internet identification resolution system, the integration and application of equipment and drug traceability codes, medical device unique identification (UDI) in the fields of production process management, quality traceability, medical equipment supervision, etc., can be realized, and the transparency and efficiency of the supply chain can be improved. On the other hand, enterprises themselves need to focus on talent cultivation and introduction. The digital transformation requires composite talents who understand both pharmaceutical processes and information technology. Only with such a talent team can enterprises make breakthroughs in technology research and development, product innovation, and market expansion.

In addition, green and low-carbon transformation is also an indispensable part of the digitalization process of pharmaceutical equipment enterprises. The Guiding Opinions on Accelerating the Green Development of Manufacturing Industry require focusing on relevant fields and promoting green and low-carbon development. Pharmaceutical equipment companies can develop and promote high-efficiency and energy-saving equipment, such as low-energy mixers, dryers, etc., and introduce heat recovery technology to reduce energy waste. In terms of energy use, actively explore the application of renewable energy such as solar and wind power, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. At the same time, by optimizing production processes, promoting continuous manufacturing models, and reducing raw material consumption and waste generation.

Overall, in the wave of digital transformation, pharmaceutical equipment enterprises should seize policy opportunities, take technological innovation as the core, application scenarios as the guide, and ecosystem construction as the support, actively promote their own digital transformation, and provide solid equipment support and technical support for the high-quality development of the pharmaceutical industry. Only in this way can we stand undefeated in the fierce market competition and achieve sustainable development.
